A Busy Half-Term

Posted: Oct 22, 2021 by: admin on: Mr Reilly's Blog

Going Greener

As you will know, children under 5 are entitled to free milk, and we encourage all parents to take advantage of this government funded offer. Parents with children aged 5 and above have the opportunity to order milk for their child at £7 per term. If your child is entitled to free school meals, then these children are entitled to the milk offer free of charge also.

We have previously been ordering the small milk cartons, resulting in a rather large amount of plastic waste each day. To help reduce this, we have decided to purchase long dated, fresh milk in 2 Lt containers which will be refrigerated and cups will be used and washed up. This will mean that your child will always have fresh, cold milk to drink from the fridge and we will be helping to reduce non-recyclable plastic waste; something the children are keen to do.

Rights Respecting Ambassadors

This week the R.R. Ambassadors visited the local foodbank to help distribute the many generous donations received for Harvest Festival. Their tasks involved helping to carry the items into the hall, organising items into food groups and date order and helping to serve the members of public visiting on that day. The children felt a real sense of responsibility as they helped serve and care for families that need a little extra support at this time.

If as a family you would benefit from similar support, please contact Mrs Osbourne, our Welfare Assistant, who will be happy to help.

The Magic Crayon

This week has seen some amazing responses from the children as they have responded to our creative writing week. This was introduced in Monday’s assembly by Miss Chantry. The children were introduced to a magic crayon that produced some remarkable results from the teachers. Do ask your child to elaborate!

Getting back to Normal

This term has flown by and we seem to be settling into more conventional routines as a school. The children clearly enjoy being back and having a little more freedom to play and socialise. Coco, the school guinea pig, has also enjoyed seeing the children in Italy Class and being the centre of attention.

I trust you and your family have a restful break and I look forward to seeing the children refreshed and ready to learn on Monday 1st November.
