Catch-Up Funding 2020 - 2021

In the academic Year 2020 – 2021, the Government has made funds available for pupils identified as missing education, to catch up and have their gaps addressed. Bean Primary will receive three payments across the year totalling approximately £15,000.

To ensure pupils receive the best possible education during this time, high quality learning is planned and delivered using Microsoft Teams each day for each class.  Pupils of Critical Workers and those considered vulnerable also take advantage of this learning in school. Through direct teaching, videos and independent work, pupils are encouraged to engage with the full curriculum at home as if they were in school. Weekly whole school assemblies seek to reward and celebrate pupils’ achievements and serve as a contact point for pupils both in and out of school.

Teachers effectively liaise with the deputy head teacher who coordinates with the newly appointed intervention teacher to address the learning needs of specific pupils, to ensure gaps are addressed and that rapid progress is secured. The majority of the catch-up funding made available for this year has been utilised for this programme. Progress is tracked on the school’s assessment software, Target Tracker,  ensuring key staff are clear about next steps of learning and these are identified and planned for. These lessons take place both virtually and in school depending on the status of the pupils identified.

Further information on the school’s online learning offer can be found on the school website (front page).
